Structural Fitter
Experienced Structural Fitter responsible for fitting, assembling, and aligning structural steel components according to drawings and project specifications.
Job Description
- Read and interpret structural and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Measure, mark, cut, and fit structural steel components such as beams, columns, plates, and braces
- Align and assemble steel structures prior to welding or bolting operations
- Ensure correct dimensions, levels, and tolerances as per approved drawings
- Perform tack welding and preparation for final welding activities
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments accurately
- Check material identification and ensure correct materials are used
- Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and QC personnel during fabrication and erection
- Identify and report dimensional or fit-up issues before final welding
- Ensure compliance with project quality requirements and inspection procedures
- Follow approved method statements and work procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with HSE standards
- Support erection, alignment, and adjustment of structural steel at site when required
- Assist in inspection, punch list clearance, and final handover activities
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Structural Fitter in fabrication yards or construction sites
- Ability to read and understand structural and shop drawings
- Knowledge of steel fabrication, fit-up tolerances, and alignment techniques
- Familiarity with tack welding and basic welding symbols
- Experience using measuring tools (tape, level, square, calipers, etc.)
- Physically fit and able to work at heights and in outdoor conditions
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
